If you have a young family, your satisfaction level will probably be higher if there are other young families with children in the neighborhood. It will be easier to make friends and the children will have other kids to play with. If the community is comprised largely of retirees, it will be harder for your family to develop connections. Recreational activities are important to most people, so having them readily available in the community is a big plus to many people. Biking and hiking trails and parks and green spaces add a little bit of a rural feel to a suburban area.
