Some people like to purchase a home with a small yard for different reasons. They may like to have neighbors close by, or they may not want to take on the upkeep of landscaping. However, there are also a lot of people who want to buy a home that has acreage that comes with it. Here are some of the reasons why a lot of people look for acreage when they are shopping for the next home to purchase for their family:

They want to be able to build onto the home in the future

Some people want a home with acreage because they want to be able to add on to the home in the future and they don't want to worry about losing out on too much of their yard when they do. Or, they may want to build a guest house, a workshop, additional garages, or something else on the property in the future and they don't want to be limited with regards to what they build and how large they decide to go.

They want to own livestock

Some people want to own some livestock at some point in the future. If you would like this, then you won't want to be significantly limited with regards to the types of animals you are allowed to have on your property because you have a small property that's inside the city limits. Instead, you will want to go outside the city limits and get a larger piece of land that has at least an acre so you can get the livestock you want.

They want to do a lot of things with their property

A small property significantly limits what you can do on it. If you want to do a lot of things on your property, then you need to have at least an acre. Some examples of the types of things that you can do when you have a good amount of property include building a track that can be used for things like BMX biking, motocross training and riding, or even for racing remote control cars. You can also enjoy a lot of outdoor activities when you have a large piece of property that can include flying a kite in your own yard or practicing flying your drone without bothering the neighbors by accidentally ending up crashing in their yard or ending up invading their privacy.
