Before you go out and look at homes with your realtor, it is important that you have sat down with them and discussed the specifics of exactly what you are looking for. This saves a great deal of time for both of you because your realtor won't waste time showing you homes that don't meet your needs and wants and you won't have to waste your time looking at them. In order to refine the search, there are a few different things that you are going to need to discuss with your realtor. This article will address 3 of the things that you should talk about before you go out and look at homes for sale.

How Old Or New Of A Home You Want

While some people like an older home that has some character to it, or a fixer upper that they can restore and make look amazing, others prefer a new home that has a modern look and is ready for them to move right into. Both types of homes are likely on the market in your area, so it is important that you discuss with your realtor the type of homes that you are interested in. If you want to look at fixer uppers, then you can give your realtor your budget, including the cost of fixing up the home, and from there they can pull up homes for sale that you may be interested in looking at.

The Importance Of Location

Another thing to discuss with your realtor is the specific location that you would like your home to be in. For example, if there is a specific neighborhood in town that you would like to live in, then you will want to tell them this. They can then narrow their search to homes in this area that are for sale. If you are unfamiliar with the town because you just moved there, then you can talk with your realtor about locations that are safe, close to things that are important to you, in a good school district, etc. This information will allow them to find homes that meet your needs.

The Amount Of Property

If property is something that is of high importance to you, then you will want to discuss with your realtor how much property you would like to have, what types of things you would like on your property, such as trees, hills, likes, etc., as well as how much you are able to spend on your property. They can incorporate this in with the type of home that you want, as well as the location that you would like, and will be able to show you exactly what your options are.
